Austin's iconic kite festival is coming back to Zilker Park this weekend.

The ABC Kite Fest will see thousands of people gather with colorful kites for its 96th year. Last year's event drew roughly 50,000 people to the park, according to KXAN. Here's what you need to know:

When is the festival?

The Kite Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at Zilker Park.

How much does it cost?

Entrance is totally free unless you want to purchase a VIP pass for $100.

The VIP pass grants access to the High Flyer Club from Texas Mutual, which includes 9 a.m. early access to Zilker park, banquet seating in a private tent, catered refreshments throughout the day, face painting, bounce houses and more.

What about parking and transportation?

Both VIP and general admission guests can purchase a parking pass for $25 per vehicle. VIPs can purchase a pass directly with their VIP ticket, while general guests can purchase a parking pass here.

Parking will be at "the open field south of Barton Springs Road at Stratford Drive," according to the Kite Fest. The festival also noted that Barton Springs Road will close at 7 a.m., and only parking pass holders are allowed through.

Shuttles will run from 9:45 a.m.-5 p.m. with a $5 pass per rider. Shuttles will leave from the Toney Burger Center at 3200 Jones Road and State Garage E at 1601 Lavaca St.

Where do proceeds go?

Money from VIP pass sales as well as any other funds go toward the Moss Pieratt Foundation and Communities in Schools of Central Texas.

The Moss Pieratt Foundation raises money and awareness for sudden unexplained death in childhood, or SUDC, while Communities in Schools brings "community resources into schools to empower success for all students by identifying and addressing barriers and supporting students on their path to graduation," according to its website.
