McDonald's is set to launch a new restaurant venture next year, and with the help of an old mascot, it's a true blast from the past.

CosMc's is said to be a limited spinoff chain operating as "a new small-format, beverage-led concept that’s truly out of this world," according to a release from McDonald's.

The first CosMc's will open in Bolingbrook, Illinois, this month "as part of a limited test," McDonald's said. But 10 total pilot locations are set to open by the end of 2024, including ones in Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metro areas.

Here's a look at the CosMc menu items at the new McDonald's restaurant concept opening in Bolingbrook, Ill. sometime this week.

According to the McDonald's release, menu items will include a s'mores cold brew, berry hibiscus sour-ade, popping pear slush, pretzel bites, spicy queso sandwich, creamy avocado tomatillo sandwich and classic McDonald's staples such as the Egg McMuffin.

Customers can purchase these items with "a uniquely seamless digital and Drive Thru experience" that utilizes "dynamic menu boards" and assigned pickup windows, McDonald's said.

With labels such as "Signature Galactic Boosts" for some drinks offerings, the menu gives a glimpse into CosMc's retro space theme. According to USA TODAY, the restaurant is based on a McDonald's alien mascot of the same name from the late 80s and early 90s.

USA TODAY also reported that it's unclear "if the mascot itself will return to restaurants as part of the concept launch."

The first glimpse of CosMc's came out of Bolingbrook, Illinois.
